NOAA Heat and Health Leadership Award

Recently CPAESS Program Specialist Morgan Zabow, who works with NOAA's Climate Program Office won an award from NOAA. For her work as co-lead for the National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) Communications group, manager of the NIHHIS-Climate Adaptation Planning and Analytics (CAPA) Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign Program, an organizer of the NOAA One Health group, and one who led the content creation for heat.gov, Morgan recently received an outstanding recognition.

Steve Thur who is Assistant Administrator for the NOAA Oceanic and Atmospheric Research shared  “It is with great pleasure that I share the names of outstanding scientists and support specialists from NOAA Research who have been recognized as Gold and Silver Medal recipients for their work. These awards, presented by the Department of Commerce, are the highest honors granted by the Secretary for distinguished and exceptional performance. At NOAA Research, we are proud that our colleagues continue to lead by example in producing award-winning work and building strong working relationships with other labs and programs across NOAA Research and NOAA. We also want to highlight those dedicated contractors and cooperative institute employees, known as NOAA affiliates, who worked on these OAR award-winning projects.”

Morgan Zabow received a gold medal award “for leadership in conceiving, developing, communicating, and implementing innovative solutions for equitable resilience to heat’s health risks” with her NOAA Climate Program Office colleagues and other members of her team. “I am thrilled that Morgan’s excellent work and the vital communication and research concerning the increasingly critical connection between heat and health is being acknowledged at such a high level. CPAESS is grateful to NOAA for acknowledging our staff member’s important contributions to this work” expressed Hanne Mauriello, SPS CPAESS Director.
